I was very excited to test this product, as I am a huge fan of some of Nivea’s other lip care products. Not only that, but I was looking forward to a product that would not only moisturise my lips, but give them a pretty pink colour. Unfortunately, my excitement was short lived and I was left feeling slightly disappointed. However, there are also a number of positives to mention.
The product is packaged in a lipstick style stick with a twisting lid. It is easy to use, whilst the protective lid remains firmly on the stick when not in use. Despite being small in size, it is a very long lasting lip balm. I’ve had it for a number of months now and it has not lost any of its moisture.
Since this product markets itself as being predominantly a lip balm, I expected it to provide a good level of both moisture and protection, but instead found that unless I used Blistex prior to applying the balm, my lips were left feeling quite dry.
The pink colour of the balm is very pretty and can be very flattering. Having said that, if your lips are dry, it can look very unattractive as your lips can be left looking a little washed out. You may find, like I did, that applying a warmer pink gloss over the balm produces nice results.
You can buy this balm from Boots in the shop or online for just £2.29 in Boots. At this price, I think this balm is a reasonable purchase as it’s adaptable, has a nice colour, and is packaged nicely.
Overall, I feel that the balm, as a stand-alone product, does not meet Nivea’s usually high standards and can make the lips appear too dry and pale. However, when combined with other products, such as a moisture base before the balm, or a gloss after the balm, it can provide good results.
