NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

150624-Hello-2015I always make new Years Resolutions, however I do not often stick to them for longer than a week (max) and they mostly involve losing weight & saving money and like most I always end up gaining weight and losing money – NOT THIS YEAR!

I have realised I need to set realistic goals with actual figures and also think of a few that are slightly less self-indulgent.

  1. Do something charitable for the MSA trust

Matt and I have signed up to do Survival of the Fittest in October, which is a 10k run with physical obstacles along the way and I am going to run in aid of the MSA trust because the illness is something very close to my heart.59f12f517a06a018035e6e9fb4fa61ca983626c65900e6a69b2cfcbff41d9cce

  1. Reach a physical peak

Someone told me recently that at 25 you should be at your physical peak – I have 6 months. Don’t get me wrong I like myself, but I am by no means at a physical peak and if I am then I am not pleased with the height of the peak.

I have decided this year instead of saying “Lose weight” I need to have a good eating and exercise plan as well as a goal. Playing netball a couple of times a week and popping to the gym is great, but I want to push myself this year and hopefully get into shape in the process hence the Survival of the Fittest.

My housemate & BFF Soph and I often have waves of healthy meals and gym sessions, however this year I need to prolong these waves. No doubt I will keep you updated on the process, but so far I can tell you that cutting down after Christmas is tough, but I am determined 2015 will see the peak of Georgina Goodhind.

  1. Save Money

I know that in order to have a great blog then you have to be open, however I am not going to write a figure, lets just say I want to pay off my overdraft and I have a sum that I am going to save a month (by setting up a direct debit to my dad and asking him to save it as I do not trust myself).Save-money-drinking

  1. Stay Positive

I would like to think I am a positive person and my friends and family would hopefully agree, however I suppose what I mean by this is I want to refrain from saying or thinking anything negative and if I do then if the thing I am complaining about can be changed – I will change it.tumblr_n4jhsmSczA1sk25ezo1_500

There are a couple of other things such as spending more time with my grandparents and being less bossy that I would also like to apply to 2015, however these do not have quantitative results and are things that I want to do not goals.

2014 IN A NUTSHELL

I always think the arrival of the New Year is a time to reflect on the year just gone and a chance pick out some key moments that I am thankful for and would like to share with you:

Chilling by the pool.

Chilling by the pool.

EGYPT 2014 was an amazing holiday with Matt in May. We stayed in the Sharm El Sheikh Hilton Waterfalls hotel and had the most relaxing 10 days, chilling by the pool, relaxing on the beach and even went on a snorkelling trip to Tiran Island and saw some of the most beautiful fish and reefs.

The all-inclusive deal also meant the Sharm dream cocktails in the pool were pretty lethal especially from the pool bar which was accessible via a Lilo.

GLASTONBURY 2014 was the first time I had been to the renowned British festival and it did not disappoint!!! I should probably tell you at this point that I did not embrace the festival spirit to the full as I stayed in a motor home with my parents, however I felt clean every day and had a warm cup of tea every morning & every night and it was wonderful!!

Sam and I on the first night.

We travelled down on Wednesday evening after work in the glorious sunshine with my brother (Sam) and spent the first evening just us four. Safe to say it was one of the best nights – we found a tent, dad called in the Jaiger bombs and we danced the night away until we stumbled back to the van which we could not find for about an hour.

First night at Glasto 2014.

The next few days were incredible. Sam decided to camp with his girlfriend Rosie and Matt joined us on the Friday. Despite the torrential rainfall & falling over in the mud, which received a raucous cheer from a crowd of 50+ people, there were so many special moments. Glastino is my favourite place in the world – a latin American tent playing classics and people dancing salsa in wellies, watching my favourite band Bombay Bicycle Club on a hill in the sunshine was incredible and watching Dolly Parton with all my friends whilst my mum and dad were behind us doing the dance to Jolene was also hilarious.

I could go on, but I will save a long Glastonbury post for this year and do not worry I will be camping – in a tent, praying for sunshine.

Ready for Zoo Project

Ready for Zoo Project

IBIZA 2014 in July was one the best holidays I have ever been on. We were a group of 10 (9 girls and 1 BRAVE boy). We all arrived and departed at different times, however we had a beautiful apartment in Playa d’en Bossa and a week to fill with some of the best activities the Island had to offer.

Ocean Beach Club

Despite being a big group we were able to agree on a brilliant itinerary, which included ZOO project, cocktails in Ushuaia, 90s night in Es Paradis, Disclosure in Space, watching the sunset at Café Mambo, Basement Jaxx in Boom, Ocean Beach Club Pool Party & an incredible Boat party which included our own private trip on a speed boat with our mate Patrick Starfish and his sidekick BooBoo (not even making this up). Too much to even begin to go into detail, but if you would like any more information or recommendations please just drop me an email.

MUM’S 50TH SURPRISE PARTY was a huge success much to the delight of myself and my wonderful Dad. We spent about 6 months organising it and it was a military operation. I took the role of Event organiser (spreadsheets and all) and Dad was my helper & finance department. Thankfully I have had plenty of Event organisation practice with work (blog about this to follow) and my Dad is super organised. Mum was very surprised and the party was a huge success thanks to Racks in Clifton, my brother’s band – SAONA & all of our wonderful friends and family.

The morning after the surprise party we decided to whisk my, albeit slightly hungover mother to Italy for the week, however she did not realise my brother and I were also coming and we met her in the departure lounge – you guessed it ANOTHER surprise.

Cocktails in the City

Cocktails in the City

We went to Viarregio, a beautiful seaside city in Northern Italy and made a couple of day trips to Florence (Firenze for all those using Sat Nav – can be confusing) and Sienna (easily one of my most favourite places I have ever visited). We went on bike rides, beautiful walks, sunbathed at the beach and clubbing with more of Dads favourite Jaigerbombs.

Chavvy Chic

NOTTING HILL was another first for me in 2014. With a number of my Bristol friends now living in London I felt it was time to experience the delights of the Notting Hill weekend. We stayed with our wonderful friends Liam & Pye in Tuffnell Park and Liam gave us a “Chavvy Chic” dress code so I wore my favourite high waisted denim shorts with a bright pink top, accompanied by my brothers vintage Adidas jacket and some glitter- I was told anything goes at carnival & my god it did. Saturday was wonderful – we found a stage that played Sean Paul (unhealthy obsession with him since the age of 17) and I drank my pre mixed plastic bottle of gin & tonic whilst twerking away. This was shortly followed by a wonderful feast at wagamamas and a night of games back at Tuffnell. Sunday was a washout so we went for a roast (so hardcore).

TOM JONES was another particular highlight of mine. Matt’s Mum and Dad invited me to go with them to the races at Haydock Park, which was brilliant, followed by a concert by Sir TJ himself, which was AMAZING! Matt’s sister (Sarah) and I were adamant we would miss the last couple of races and take our places at the front.

He sang all the classics and some great new material and his voice was phenomenal and so powerful. Unfortunately I did not win big at the races, however I was sure TJ looked at me (he was probably staring at the lady behind me who was on her husbands shoulders with her tits out). Despite his age there were a serious amount of knickers left on the stage and I definitely have a little crush on him. It was a great day!

Proven Gals

PROVEN COMMUNCIATIONS 10TH ANNIVERSARY was a huge milestone for the company. We celebrated in style, hiring out the top floor of @Bristol with incredible views of Bristol and had enough sparkling wine on offer to drown a small boat. The food, entertainment and company were all wonderful and we had a brilliant night celebrating the success of Proven. One of our suppliers, Gareth kindly created a banner for the party and it really captured the spirit of our office. It read, “10 years bitches…” and we LOVED it. We were tempted to hang it in the window of our office after the party, however we work in a residential area and I do not think our lovely Christian, elderly pensioners would have took kindly to it.

There were so many other moments in 2014 that I can think of and of course there were moments that were not the happiest, however even if my 2014 anecdotes have bored you to death I would genuinely recommend creating your own as it honestly makes you realise what a great year all in all it has been.

James Brown London Photo Fabulous Wave Spray

James Brown London Photo Fabulous Wave Spray

James Brown London Photo Fabulous Wave Spray

The James Brown London Photo Fabulous Wave Spray comes packaged in a small 150ml bottle with a spray cap.  Whilst the bottle will instruct you to spray this product liberally, I would advise against that, as you will find that it will not last very long if used daily in this manner.

Further, the directions recommend that you spray onto towel-dried hair and then blow-dry roughly, whilst scrunching at the end.  However, when following these instructions, my hair was left feeling knotted and matted.  Therefore, for best results, I recommend brushing your hair prior to applying the spray, and then following up with the blow dryer on low heat and low pressure.  Bear in mind that this method may take a while.

This product has a very appealing aroma, with notes of vanilla and tropical fruits, as well as a hint of must.  However, the smell doesn’t last for long, and you may find that it clashes with your perfume or shampoo.

A few hours after using the product, my hair began to feel slightly greasy and unpleasant.  Then by the end of the day, it felt as if I needed to wash it again.  I have very thick, long hair and it may have just been too heavy for the product.  However, the spray doesn’t clarify that it will only work with certain types of hair.

The spray is available to purchase the product from Boots for £7.99 in Boots, which I think is a bit extortionate.  If I want tousled hair I have had better results with Boots own brand curling Mousse.

I will probably use the bottle I purchased, but I certainly wouldn’t purchase again and would advise others against using it for two reasons:  (1) it’s overpriced and (2) does not deliver the results it promises.
